Angel One Data Leak: AWS Breach Exposes User Data
Angel One, a prominent stockbroking firm, experienced a significant data leak. The company confirmed unauthorized access to its systems. This compromise involved some of its Amazon Web Services (AWS) resources. The breach was discovered on February 27, 2025.
The Discovery and Initial Response
Angel One received alerts from its dark web monitoring partner. These alerts indicated unauthorized access to client data. The company immediately launched an investigation. They determined that some AWS resources were compromised.
“After analyzing the post, it was ascertained that some of Angel One’s AWS resources were compromised,” the company stated.
In response, Angel One took swift action. They changed all related AWS cloud credentials and also updated credentials for other applications.
Impact and Ongoing Investigation
While Angel One assures clients that securities, funds, and credentials remain secure, the full extent of the breach is still under investigation.
“We have verified that this breach does not have any impact on clients’ securities, funds, and credentials; and all our client accounts remain secure,” the company said.
The company engaged an external forensic partner. This partner will conduct a thorough investigation.
