KNOXVILLE, TN – The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley (BGCTV) announced a significant data breach affecting former employees, volunteers, and program participants, including children and their guardians. The breach occurred between November 19th and 23rd, 2024.
Unauthorized Access and Data Exfiltration
BGCTV discovered potential unauthorized network access on November 23rd, 2024. Immediate action was taken to secure the network and launch a thorough investigation. Legal counsel and external IT forensics specialists were engaged. The investigation revealed unauthorized access and data exfiltration.
The compromised data varied by individual. However, it may include:
- First and last names
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license numbers
BGCTV reported the incident to law enforcement. They are taking the incident seriously.
While no fraud has been reported, BGCTV advises vigilance against identity theft and fraud. Review credit reports and account statements for suspicious activity. Report any suspicious activity to the relevant financial institution or company immediately.
